The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is an American four-engineered heavy bomber developed in the 1930s for the United States Army Air Corps (USAAC). A fast and high-flying bomber of its era, the B-17 was used primarily in the European Theater of Operations and dropped more bombs than any other aircraft during World War II. It is the third-most produced bomber of all time, behind the American four-engineered Consolidated B-24 Liberator and the German multirole, twin-engineered Junkers Ju 88. It was also employed as a transport, antisubmarine aircraft, drone controller, and search-and-rescue aircraft.

The U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii is Honored to Announce The Grand Opening of Our New Exhibit to Honor The Service of Japanese American Veterans of WWII, Filipino Veterans of WWII, and Chinese American Veterans of WWII! The TRI-Congressional Gold Medal Exhibit is a new one of a kind Display in the US that showcases The Service and Sacrifice of These Three Special Groups and their Families from “The Greatest Generation, who answered America’s call to duty during the Second World War!
Please join us at the U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii at 2131 Kalia Road at Fort DeRussy as We Celebrate and Remember their Selfless Service to Our Country! The event will be held in front of the U.S. Army Museum at 3:00 PM on the 26th of September 2026, as the most important part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Army Museum!
The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday
From 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is Free, and Parking is validated.
